27 flight controls Flashcards
how are flight controls classified
Flight controls
- reversible
- no power
- hydraulic power
- pneumatic power
- elecitrical power
- irriversible
- fly-by-wire
- fly-by-cable
- fly-by-light
main tasks of flight controls
control and trim
when is the aircrat “trimmed”
when the sum of moments around each axis is zero (aerodynamic forces keep controls in their place)
what are the primary flight controls
ailerons, elevators, rudder
what are secondary flight controls? purpose?
high lift devices,
to reduce speed for landing
what are classifications of secondary flight controls
passive (change surface) - internal or external
active (add energy to surface) ex boundary layer control to delay flow separation
what is a fowler flap? why?
bottom part of TE can slide back and angle down
to increase sa and increase camber
diff bw track, lingage and dropped hinge for flaps movement
track -> most control , most difficult to manufacture
limkage. links connected to each other (cheaper, typic al)
dropped hinge linkage with dropped hing for more surface area
