24 Electrical Power A321 Flashcards
what primary method does A321 power generation use
primary ac power generation
how is dc power supplied primarily
TR (transformer rectifiers)
how many distribution networks are there and how are they connected
two main networks. Separate unless they are conneted due to external power, APU power, or one fails.
what are the potential sources for power generation and when are they used
AC:
In flight: two main generators (IDGs) suppliing independent lines
If one main line is out: APU generator will supply to system
In total failure: most essential parts supplied by constant speed hydaulic motor powering a generator (CSM/G) which is powered by the blue hydraulic system using the RAT as the pressurizing pump.
Further emergency: from batteries via static invertor
On ground: external power.
DC:
In flight: TR off of each IDG
Emergency: batteries
what is the battery used for?
- dc loads in case of emergencies
- ac loads in case of sever emergencies via static invertor
- starting APU in flight or on ground
