What is a software error and when does it occur?
A software error is when software behaves unexpectedly and usually occurs when programs are badly written or if a user inputs unexpected data.
What are some common software errors?
System freeze : When the computer freezes and pressing the keyboard or moving the mouse doesn’t work.
Stop Error : Occurs when the operating system stops because of a driver software issue.
Unexpected Reboot : A computer might get in an endless loop of rebooting.
Update error : Updates can interfere with current softwares and bring more problems.
What are three trouble shooting tools for software errors?
Event Viewer (Log) : A tool to display and log software errors that occur including date and time, problem history etc.
Baseline : A comparison of what the system looks like before and after the crash. This can be used to see differences which may have caused the error.
Anti Virus : Anti virus scans for any known malware / viruses that may cause an error.
