Q

What could a consequence of loosened pelvic joints be?

A

Pelvic Girdle Pain.
The looseness of ligaments disrupts the integrity of the pelvis. Can have an effect on labour- reduced movement due to pain etc.
Some women need crutches and physio referral

Q

Effect of progesterone in a woman’s legs

A

Progesterone relaxes smooth muscle. This relaxes the smooth muscle in the vein walls, causing incomplete valve closure which results in a back flow of blood. Resulting in varicose veins.

Q

What is diastasis rectus abdominus?

A

The growing fetus stretches the muscles, causing the linea alba (connective tissue) to become weaker and thinner. This results in a separation of the left and right sides of the muscle.
Physio referrals are often needed.
