25. Fire support integration Flashcards
What are the two forms of surface fires that support CAS?
SEAD and target marking
What is SEAD?
Activity which neutralizes destroys or temp degrades surface based enemy air defenses by DESTRUCTIVE AND OR DISRUPTIVE MEANS
What are the two means of executing SEAD?
Destructive- destruction of the target or personnel
Disruptive- temp denies degrades deceives delays or neutralizes enemy SA systems
SEAD starts where and is most effective against what?
starts with accurate intelligence
most effective against stationary tgts
Threat mitigation plans?
Aviod, Suppress, Kill.
What is the least desirable way of enabling a tally on target?
marking friendlies
When providing mark for aircraft what are the considerations?
TOT for desired mark 30-45 seconds prior for WP - RP
possible target obscuration?
wind direction in target area (offset 100meters)
What types of separation plans are there?
Formal- ACA listed in ATO
Informal- Terminal Controller using onsite separation plan
Aircraft and indirect fires may be separated by?
Distance- Separation by distance is preferred because it permits the continuous attack of SEAD
Time-
Types of separation?
- Altitude (1000ft buffer)
- Alt and Lateral
- Time (requires the most detailed coordination)
USMC SEAD CFF
Timing is CAS TOT
Mark standard (30 sec prior to CAS TOT)
(Ground illum used at 45 sec)
USMC duration templates
continuous -suppression from -1 through +1 every 30 sec
mark at -30 seconds if requested
interrupted -suppression from -1 through -30sec
mark at -30 if requested
What are some aircraft deconfliction methods?
ACAs restrictive FAH Restrictive egress instructions offset directions IP selection
