Q

IAM limitations

A

Moving targets- Single mode have no caps against moving targets/ dual mode IAMs allow follow on guidance via laser designator

Location error- require extremely accurate tgt location

Malfunctions- Loss of guidance, control fin hard-over(PGM should always be employed parallel to friendlies!

Time requirement- time required to coordinate must out-weigh time required to provide immediate weapons effects

Q

TLE

Types of TLE?

A

Target location error- difference between the coordinates generated and the actual location of tgt

Circular error) CE- Horizontal ground plane
Vertical error) VE- vertical plane
Spherical error) SE- Three dimensional spherical space (VE and CE combined)
Height above ellipsoid) HAE- MSL or HAE
JDAMs work in HAE,
