Birth rate
The number of live births per thousand of population per year
Death rate
The ratio of deaths to the population of a particular area or during a particular period of time, usually calculated as the number of deaths per one thousand people per year.
Population growth rate
The annual average rate of change of population size, for a given country, territory, or geographic area, during a specified period.
Preindustrial demographic transition
Birth and death rate high (constant)
Early industrial demographic transition
birth rate stays high death rate decreases (goes up)
Mature industrial demographic transition
Birth goes down (slows down)
Postindustrial demographic transition
Birth and death rates are low (constant and slow)
Developed Nations population data
Young country with more of the population being young. More births as well.
Developing Nations population data
Has more old people. More deaths at an infant as well.
How can an age structure diagram predict population growth?
If there is more people in the younger ages than the older ages than the population is going to continue to grow. The opposite is true when there are more people in the older ages.
Developed Nations
Have access to technology such as cars, planes, and electricity. They have access to technology that requires them to use resources.
Developing Nations
They have good infrastructure and better environment for health and safety.
Infant Mortality Rate
The number of deaths of infants under 1 per 1000 live births.
Family Planning
The percentage of currently married or in-union women.
