What were the impacts of the crisis?

• Civil war in 2011 caused 11m people to flee homes
• 4.25m are internally displaced
• 7m in need of humanitarian aid
• 500k deaths, aid not delivered due to danger
• Mass unemployment and food shortages and sanitation
• Leaving the area provide them with safety, better living standards, food and water. Many migrants are exploited for money by people traffickers offering them transport at high fees and unsafe.
• Thousands of camps along borders in overcrowded and unsafe conditions

Turkey: 200,000 refugees and 20 camps - cost $583m and 3m still live there - open to migration
Jordan: 500,000 refugees - 120,000 in Zaatari camp. Pressure on supplies and 400,000 dispersed around the rest of the country.
Lebanon: over 1m refugees, 80k each day costing $800m - civil war has spread into lebanon
