Oedema of the oral and facial soft tissues due to an increase in fluid exudate from the capillaries with no lymphatic drainage

Macrophages fuse together after trying (and failing) to phagocytose an allergen to form a MGC

What is an exclusion diet?
A
- avoidance of all foods that are allergens
- complete compliance is required
- usually for 3 months but benefits can be seen earlier
- reintroduce foods to identify triggers

- pulsed azithromycin for 3 months
- prednisolone pulse for short term
