What must a supervisor do once notified of an operational use of a TASER?
Consult with the operator involved as to whether attendance is necessary
Ensure proper aftercare and appropriate medical attention is provided
Ensure scene is preserved and photographed, all evidence including discharged cartridges wires probes and cartridge identification tags are recovered and secured.
Ensure subjects exposed to TASER are examined by doctor or ambo, and is recorded on POL42
Ensure operator completes details of instances of use in TASER register
Ensure operator submits TOR, uploads incident into Evidence.com
Review taser footage and TOR and if use was justified
What must a supervisor do once notified of an operational show of a TASER?
Operator submits TOR
Operator completes details of instance in the Taser register
Ensure operator uploads incident into Evidence.com
Debrief the officer involved and review footage and TOR
What must a supervisor do in an event of an unintentional discharge?
Preserve and photograph the scene
Immediately withdraw the TASER from service and consult with the Police national Armoury as to whether or not the particular TASER and associated evidence is forwarded to them for examination and a report.
Ensure that all evidence, including the subject TASER, discharged cartridges, wires, probes and sufficient (4-5) cartridge identification tags (CIT), are recovered from the scene and secured.
Instigate a review of the facts surrounding the incident.
Ensure operator submits a TOR
Ensure operator(s) uploads the incident into Evidence.Com
Ensure the operator completes the details of the discharge in the TASER register.
Notify the District Police Professional Conduct Manager.
