Curl re forming

The process of rearranging the structure of curly hair to a straighter or smoother form
Thio relaxers
Usually have a PH Above 10
Hydroxide ions
When left in the hair after a relaxer can be neutralized using an acid balanced shampoo
Metal hydroxide relaxers
Type of relaxer that contains only one component an is used exactly as it is packaged with no mixing necessary
Potassium hydroxide relaxers
often advertised and sold as no mix no lye relaxers
Salt bonds
Type of bond that is relatively weak physical side bonds that are the result of an attraction between negative and positive electrical charges
Loop rods
Type of rod also know as circle rod on base
On base placement
The hair is wrapped at 45 beyond perpendicular to its base section and the rod is positioned on its base
Acid balanced waves
Permanent wave that processes at room temp
Chemical solutions
Raise the PH of the hair to alkaline state
Elasticity test
Should be performed before perming hair
Porous hair
Could be damaged by a highly alkaline permanent waving solution
GMTG
The primary reducing a gent in the most acid waves has a low PH
True acid waves
Have a PH between 4.5 to 7.0
Ammonia free waves
Have very little Odor
Permanent waving
Most of the processing takes place with in the 1st 5 to 10 mins
Safety precaution
Of permanent waving is to examine the scalp before the perm service
Extremely curly hair
The twists are the thinnest and weakest section of the hair strands
Relaxers
Extremely alkaline and can melt or dissolve hair if used incorrectly
Hydroxide relaxers
If a client has been treated with this it means the hair will not hold a curl when applying a thio relaxer
Double flat wrap
Is a perm wrap in which one end paper is placed over the strand of hair being wrapped
Soft bender rods
Type of rods usually about 12 inch long with a uniform diameter along the entire length of the rod
Thioglycolic acid
Common reducing agent

Innermost layer of the hair
Cuvature permanent wrap
The type of wrap that the partings and bases radiate throughout the panels to follow the cube rather of the head
