What is Authenticating with a pre-shared key?
A client authentication mode with WPA (wifi protected access)
What are the authentication modes supported by WPA?
PSK or 802.1x
Also know as personal mode & enterprise mode
How does PSK work?
The client and AP both have a key configured. With a 4-way handshake it is exchanged
What is the difference between WPA 1/2 and 3?
WPA3 uses Simultaneous Authentication of Equals. With this both client and AP can initiate the authentication process
What is EAP
Extensible Authentication Protocol
What does EAP do?
It defines a set of common functions that actual authentication methods can use to authenticate users
What are the 802.1x entities?
- Supplicant
- Authenticator (WLC)
- Authentication server
