2:Movements & Range Of Motions Flashcards
What is a rotation
Movement of the longitudinal axis of a bone
What is circumdunction
Using a common fulcrum (alex) for all movements as in circumscribing a cone (for exemple the 360 of the thumb )
What is medial rotation
The anterior aspect of extremity turned inward along it’s longitudinal axis ( for exemple: feet in, rotation of hip)
What is the lateral rotation?
The anterior aspect of the extremity is turned outward along it’s longitudinal axis ( for exemple : feet out, rotation of hip)
What is an upward rotation
Referring to the scapula when the inferior angle moves laterally and up
Wht is a downward rotation
Referring to the scapula when the inferior angle moves medially and down
What is a depression
Lowering a body oart
What is an elevation
Raising a body part
What is a horizontal abduction (horizontal extension)
Moving from the midline of the body on the horizontal plane
What is a retraction
The movement of the part backward
What is a protaction
The movement of a part forward
What is an inversion
The rotation of the sole of the foot inward
What is an eversion
The rotation of the sole of the foot outward
What is the dorsiflexion
Flexing the ankle to raise the toes upwards
What is plantarflexion
The flexion of the ankle to point the toes
