Be able to analyze a group work case using each: group development theory, group leadership theory, and a multicultural/diversity lens. Be able to develop and propose interventions using the group leadership theory at all three levels of group interaction. Be able to critique the interventions using the multicultural and social justice lens. Be able to discuss and apply basic group work concepts such as “process vs. content”, norms, and roles and the ethics specific to group work.

Sample question:

Describe a potentially problematic scenario in group supervision. Instead of analyzing it in terms of supervision theories, think of it as a group similar to a therapy or counseling group but with supervisee personal and professional growth as the intended outcome. Analyze your own scenario two separate ways: (1) using one group leadership theory such as FCT, Systems, or Interpersonal. Using only that group leadership theory – propose three interventions you could use in this situation; and (2) using a group development or a diversity or multicultural lens.
