2:1 Sampling Flashcards
What is sampling?
Sampling is a part of Primary Research. Sampling includes questioning a selection of people instead of large groups. The people chosen represent the population as a whole.
Random sampling
People are randomly selected and asked for their opinion on the product.
Disadvantages: Some people may not be familiar with the product, doesn’t work with vague products, results aren’t very accurate unless a very large sampling is used
Quota sampling
Interviews are held with a set number of people who fall into predetermined categories. e.g. 50% male, 50% female
Advantages: Results are more accurate than Random, more likely to reach the appropriate people
Disadvantages: Method isn’t suitable for some products, Composition of the population in the area must be known
