Q

Respiration is important for..

A

maintaining body systems (equilibrium) through an efficient oxygen exchange (inhalation and exhalation)

Q

Example of hypodermic needle and our diaphragm and lungs…

A

Diaphragm pulls down like the plunger and the fluid goes into the chamber (like air going into lungs). Plunger goes up (like diaphragm pushes up) lets the fluid gets expelled out (like air goes out).

Q

Boyle’s Law:

A

given a gas of constant temperature, increasing (or decreasing) the volume of the chamber in which the gas is contained will cause a corresponding decrease (or increase) in pressure.

Q

Our lungs in relation to Boyle’s law:

diaphragm pulls down, air enters lungs, creating….

A

negative pressure. Positive pressure is created when diaphragm pushes up, decreasing the volume as air leaves our lungs, creating positive pressure.
