19- Intro to Pharmacology of ANS (CIS) & DSA Flashcards
What are the neurotransmitters and receptors of the Parasympathetics?
Neurotransmitter – ACh
Receptors – nAChR; mAChR
What are the neurotransmitters and receptors of the Sympathetics?
Neurotransmitter – NE; Epi; ACh
Receptors – alpha; beta; nAChR; mAChR
This is the major NT of the parasympathetic nervous system. It comes from all preganglionic autonomic fibers and all postganglionic parasympathetic fibers.
ACh (cholinergic)
***Also comes from a few postganglionic sympathetic fibers (sweat glands)
This is the major NT of the sympathetic nervous system. It comes from the vast majority of postganglionic sympathetic fibers.
NE (adrenergic)
Synthesis of this only occurs in the Adrenal Medulla and in a few neuronal pathways in the brainstem.
Epinephrine (adrenergic)
This is the NE and Epi precursor, and acts on the CNS and renal vascular smooth muscle.
Dopamine (dopaminergic)
What type of receptors stimulate contraction of all smooth muscle?
Alpha1
Muscarinic
What type of receptors stimulate relaxation of all smooth muscle?
Beta2
***Remember, Beta1 receptors are specific to the heart!
