14. Landing Gear Flashcards
Red Landing Gear Indicator Light
- Not down and locked with either or both Thrust Levers IDLE and < 800FT AGL or,
- Landing Gear is in disagreement with lever position (in transit or unsafe)
Landing Gear Indicator Lights (6)
- One set is above lever, another is at aft Overhead panel,
- As long as 1 green light for a gear displayed, gear is down and locked
Manual Gear Extension Door Open
- Manual gear extension is possible with Landing Gear Lever in any position,
- Landing Gear retraction is disabled
Manual Gear Extension Handles Length
61cm
AUTO BRAKE DISARM Light
Illuminates:
- SPEED BRAKE Lever moved to down detent during RTO or landing,
- Manual Brakes applied during RTO or landing,
- Thrust lever(s) advanced during RTO or landing (except first 3s after touchdown),
- Landing made with RTO selected,
- Malfunction exists in automatic braking system,
- While selecting RTO on the ground, 1-2s illumination is normal
Parking Brake Light Power Source
Operates from Battery Power
HYD BRAKE PRESS Values
- Normal: 2900-3600psi,
- Maximum: 3600-4000psi,
- Precharge: 1000psi
Nose Wheel Steering Authority
- Steering Wheel: 78 degrees,
- Rudder Pedals: 7 degrees
Braking During Gear Retraction
- Main Gears by brakes,
- Nose Gear by snubbers
Damaged Main Gear Retraction
- A spinning tire with loose tread impacts a fitting in the wheel well ring opening,
- That gear stops retracting and free falls back to down position,
- Affected gear cannot be retracted until fitting is replaced
Landing Gear Up Position Locks
- Main Gear: By mechanical uplocks. Rubber seals and oversized hubcaps complete the fairing
- Nose Gear: Overcenter Lock and enclosed by doors which are mechanically linked to the gear
Landing Gear Extension
- System A pressure is used to release uplocks,
- Extension by hydraulic pressure, gravity and air loads,
- Overcenter mechanical and hydraulic locks hold the gear at full extension
Gear Retraction After Manual Gear Extension
- Close the Manual Gear Extension Access door,
- Move LANDING GEAR lever to DOWN with System A pressure,
- Move LANDING GEAR lever to UP
Nose Wheel Steering Availability
- Available when Nose Gear is down and compressed by weight of the airplane,
- LANDING GEAR lever in DOWN makes System A pressure available to the Steering Metering Valve
Hydraulic Leak Downstream of the LGTU
- Results in a loss of System B fluid in the reservoir,
- A sensor closes the Landing Gear Transfer Valve and alternate steering will be lost
