וּשְׂנֵאָהּ֮ הָאִ֣ישׁ הָאַחֲרוֹן֒ וְכָ֨תַב לָ֜הּ סֵ֤פֶר כְּרִיתֻת֙ וְנָתַ֣ן בְּיָדָ֔הּ וְשִׁלְּחָ֖הּ מִבֵּית֑וֹ א֣וֹ כִ֤י יָמוּת֙ הָאִ֣ישׁ הָאַחֲר֔וֹן אֲשֶׁר־לְקָחָ֥הּ ל֖וֹ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃
Why can we not learn from a svarah that the death of the husband frees the wife - “hu asrah, vehu sharta”?

How does R’ Ashi prove that death of husband frees the wife?

- “Pen yamut ba’milchama, ve’ish acher kiyachena” - and can’t be talking about yavam, as he’s not “acher”
