What is piece rate?
Where an employee is paid based on the amount of products they produce.

What is profit sharing?
Where a business gives employees a share of the business profits.
What is share ownership?
Where employees are given shares in the business.
What is performance related pay?
Payment based on the performance of employees; the better an employee performs, the more they are paid.
What is consultation?
When managers ask the views of employees and involve them in the decision-making process.
What is job design?
Where managers plan the job so that it is more interesting to an employee.
What is job enlargement?
When managers increase the scope of the job for workers by giving them more jobs to do to prevent boredom.

When managers change the employee’s role to provide a greater variety of work.

Employee motivation is based on Valence (desire for reward), Expectancy (likelihood effort leads to performance), and Instrumentality (belief performance leads to reward).

An individual’s motivation is affected by the expected reward for completing a task, influenced by intrinsic and extrinsic rewards.
