What are issue stopping consider when critically appraising?
A
- are the results valid?

How do you ascertain if a trial is valid?
A
- are patients randomised?
- are all patents entered into trial accounted for in conclusion?
- was it blinded?
- were the groups similar populations?
- were groups treated equally aside from experimental intervention?

What is absolute risk difference?
A
Difference in risk between groups

What are confidence intervals?
A
- range of values the absolute risk different will take in population (takes into account group is small)
- 95% of CI will contain true population ARD
- should not overlap 0 or is not sufficient evidence

A
- number needed to treat
- number of patients you need to treat to prevent one patient from developing outcome
- 1/ARD

- intervention and control are in the same mouth on opposite sides
