13/03 Flashcards
What does the cardinal ligament contain
ureter
uterine vessels and nerves
lymph nodes draining cervix
Theca interna vs externa
interna - inner layer -androgen production,
externa - outer layer - structural support
Pudendal nerve
Origin
Branches
Motor
Sensory
Originates from ventral rami of S2, S3 and S4
3 branches:
inferior rectal,
perineal
dorsal nerve of clitoris/ penis
Motor supply
perineal, pelvic floor mm
ext urethral/ anal sphincters
Sensory supply
perineum,
external genitalia,
perianal skin
anal canal
lateral walls of the pelvic cavity
obturator internus
piriformis
most common sites of lymph node metastases from cervical cancer
external iliac
internal iliac
obturator groups.
Vaginal blood supply
uterine artery (superior aspect of the vagina)
vaginal artery (middle and inferior aspect of the vagina)
both of which are branches of the internal iliac artery
lymph node metastases from vaginal cancer
upper two-thirds pelvic lymph nodes (obturator, internal iliac/hypogastric and external iliac), - same as cervix
lower third - superficial inguinal group
The infundibulopelvic ligament (AKA suspensoty lig)
Connects the ovary laterally to the pelvic wall
Not a true ligament as it is a fold of the peritoneum
Contains the ovarian artery, vein, nerve plexus and lymphatic vessels
Luminal epithelium of fallopian tube
Secretory cells (most abundant)
Columnar cells
Peg cells (least abundant)
