Describe the relationship of the prison service with other agencies in the criminal justice system. 7 marks (2017)
the prison service shared roles with other agencies in the CJS. the prison service works with the probation services when a prisoner is to be released. lawyers may ask for prison visits so have legal consultation with client. defendants denied bail by courts and police are remanded to prison. judges and courts decide prison term for offenders. in addition the ministry of justice oversea the prison system. the courts liaise with the prisons to ensure safe delivery of prisoners to court. probation service works with charities to help prisoners leave prison successfully and have support. Outline the role of the prison service in England and Wales. 3 marks (2018)
the role of the prison service is to work with probation services when a prisoner is to be released. provide a cell for prisoners to live when their end of sentence. defendants who are denied bail by courts and found guilty are sent to prison. they allow layers to conduct prison visits to name legal consultations with clients. (3)
Describe relationships between the police, CPS and the courts as a case proceeds through the criminal justice system. (Not CPS in 2022 exam) 6 marks (2018)
the police work with courts to ensure defendants in custody are brought before them. the CPS advise the police on charging a suspect. they work with the police to check evidence gathered and if there’s enough to charge a suspect. the police work closely with the CPS in trying to charge and prosecute offenders. the CPS appears in courts to conduct the advocacy of a case. the courts liaise with police and prisons to ensure the safe delivery of prisoners to court. they arrange video links if a prisoner cannot attend court. Analyse the relationship between the Probation Service and other agencies in the criminal justice system. 8 marks (2019)
the police and prisoners work with probation in managing an offender nearing release . the ministry of justice oversea the work of probation services. their probation service arrest a prisoner recalled to prison whilst on probation. they liaise with police should there be any issues whilst a person is on probation. the probation service also works with charities to help prisoners leave prison successfully and have support.
