What is THREATCON Alpha
– lowest level / gen. non-specific threat / can maintain indef. (* measures 1-10)
Ex. - Be on the look out for suspicious people
- Secure bldgs/rooms not in use
- increase security spot checks
- limit access of vehicles
What is THREATCON?
THREATCONs describe the progressive level of a terrorist threat to all US military facilities and personnel under DODD 2000.12, “DoD Combating Terrorism Program.”
Once a THREATCON is declared when are the selected security measures implemented?
immediately
What is deadly force?
efforts to cause death, substantial risk of death or serious bodily harm
What does force protection do?
Enables us to limit the adverse effects of deception and surprise.
What is THREATCON Bravo?
increased / more predictable threat/ maintain for weeks without causing hardship or aggravating operation capabilities. (* measures 11-29)
Ex. – move cars >24 meters from bldgs
- secure and regularly inspect bldgs
- examine mail
- random patrols
What is THREATCON Delta?
incident occurred or is very likely in the immediate area or against specific location or person (* measures 41-51) Ex. – search all vehicles - 100% ID check - search all packages/briefcases - control all access

What are passive security measures?
include camouflage, dispersion, and cover.
In the rear area, security objectives include what?
Preventing or minimizing disruption of support operations.

Defeating, containing, or neutralizing any threat in the rear area.
