What are the characteristics of Syrah?
Medium to high tannins, medium acidity, full bodied.
What are the flavors of Syrah?
Usually black fruit and chocolate. MOderate climates contains herbs, smoked meat and spice. Hot climate more sweet spice.
What are the characteristics of Grenache?
Off dry, low acidity, light color, full bodied.
What are the flavors of Grenache?
Red fruit (strawberry, raspberry) and spice (white pepper, liquorice)
What other wines are made with Grenache? Why?
Rose. B/C of their thin skins.
What is the effect of adding Grenache to Syrah?
More alcohol, lower tannins, lower acidity, more red fruit

Higher tannin, acidity, dark fruit.
