11/12 Flashcards
Memory
persistence of learning over time through the encoding, storage, and retrieval of information
Recall
retrieving information that is not currently in your conscious awareness but that was learned at an earlier time
recognition
identifying items previously learned
relearning
learning something more quickly when you learn it a second or later time
Frontal lobes and hippocampus
store new explicit memories for facts and episodes
prefrontal cortex
when you summon a memory of an experience, many brain regions send input to the prefrontal cortex for working memory processing
cerebellum and basal ganglia
implicit memory formation
Semantic memory
explicit memory of facts and general knowledge. Recalling a password and holding it in working memory, for example, would activate the left frontal lobe.
