10.7: Ivan Notes Flashcards
What is the basic EU regulation?
2018/1139
What annex of EU Basic Regulation 2018/1139 defines ‘‘non-EASA aircraft’’?
Annex 1 defins what is a ‘‘non-EASA aircraft’’
What 4 entities can perform maintenance?
- Part 145 - CAT and CMPA (Even if C152 used transport - then 145 needed)
- Part CAO - Non CMPA and non Commercial
- Part 66 - licenced mechanic - non cmpa / less than 2730kg
- Pilot owner - non cmpa / less than 2730kg
What is meant by Hard time components?
Hard time components is preventatitive maintenance and includes LLPs and TCC (Life limited parts and time controlled parts)
Hard time means after number of cycles, hours or calander time - part is replaced regardless of condition
Where does the AMP come from and who approves it?
The Approved Maintenance Program is derived from the MPD (Maintenance Planning Document) which comes from the MRB (Maintenance Review Board) and this includes the Type Cert Holder.
The IAA approves the Airlines Maintenance Program
What is meant by Hard time components?
Hard time - periods related to time in service (e.g Calander time, hours, cycles, number of landings)
LLPs - Life Limited Parts
What is meant by On Condition Maintenance?
On condition - inspected or tested (e.g chip detector, tires etc)
What is meant by Condition Monitoring Maintenance?
Condition Monitoring - Engine condition trend monitoring, OEM sees trend developing and calls up actions (lube mid spans due to increased vibration etc)
If someone owns a C172 and uses it fly for commercial purposes such as ferrying people around Ireland, could this person maintain their aircraft as an owner operator or use a private part 66 licensed mechanic to complete maintenance?
No, even though the aircraft is non-CMPA it is used for Commercial Air Transport and as such it cannot be maintained by a pilot-owner or part 66 licensed mechanic
It must be maintained by a Part 145 approved organisation
Who issues the CofA?
EA
IAA issue the EASA CofA
However, the IAA issue the CofA for aircraft registered outside the EU
The pre-flight is a __________ requirement?
Is a CRS required and where is details of the pre-flight documente?
The pre-flight is a part-M requirement
No CRS is required
All documented in the CAME (Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition)
Should you ever perform a safety critical task on two or more safety critical systems?
No, you should never be performing a safety critical maintenance task on two or more safety critical systems
For example, one person should never top up two different hydraulic systems
Detail 3 ways to get around the safety critical tasks that need to be performed on aircraft for example servicing of engine 1 and 2 IDG?
- Can stagger maintenance - i.e engine 1 one night, engine 2 following night
- different teams servicing each IDG on same night
- Functional checks should be performed independently to ensure system serviceability.
