10.5: Ivan Notes Flashcards
Part M contains two further subcategories which is?
- CMPA (Comples Motor Powered Aircraft) - AOC/CAT Part-CAMO
- Non CMPA (GA) - Part ML / Part CAO
What are the 4 parts that can carry out maintenance?
Part 145 - employee has Pac (Personal authorisation certification) operating under company approval, stamps with company number not IAA number
Part CAO
Part-66 - individual can perform and sign for maint. on private non-comple CMPA e.g 172s, 152s etc
Pilot Owner Maint.
What does an aircraft require to operate in Europe?
To operate aircraft in European Airspace, An aircraft has to have a Type Certificate
Under which part is the CofA done vs ARC?
C of A done IAW Part-21
ARC performed by Part-M
What is the definition of CMPA?
CMPA (Complex Motor Powered Aircraft)
1. >5700 kg
2. +19 passengers
3. min 2 pilot crew
4. -Turbojet or more than one turboprop engine
5. or A helicopter
The two main subcategories of a Part-21 are:
Part-21
Subpart G - Production Organisation Approval
Subpart J - Design Organisation Approval
If boeing makes and has a 737-200/700/800 etc type cert, what did it need to certify max?
Amended Type Cert
If you had a Boeing aircraft and wanted wifi on aircraft but Boeing doesnt offer this from factory or at all, how could you go about getting it installed?
Approved STG (Supplemental Type Certificate)
Can the IAA approve Part-21 companies?
No, the IAA can approve Part-145 / 147 etc but cannot approve design organisation (part-21)
Who can approve Part-21 companies?
Only EASA can issue Part-21 approvals
1. Design (Part-21 subpart J)
2. Manufacturing/Production (Part 21- subpart G)
How can parts be classified? (5)
Serviceable - Form 1
U/S - U/S label
Unsalvageable
Standard (Bolt) - CofC (Certificate of Conformity which has Batch no.)
Consumables (split pin/lockwire/grease) - CofC with Batch no.
The Basic regulation (2018/1139) can be divided into two sub-categories which are:
- Initial Airworthiness (748/2012)
- Continuing Airworthiness (1321/2014)
What is a Part CAO?
Combined airworthiness organisaiton - Maint org. and CAMO combined as one
Does part-21 just concern design?
Part-21 isn’t just design, includes certification for Type certs, STC, design, production etc
Part-21 subpart J = Design Organisation
Part-21 subpart G = Production Organisation
What is the FAA equivalent of an EASA form 1?
FAA 8130
What is an ETSO?
The ETSO (European Technical Standard Order) authorisation represents one way (and not the only way) to have parts and appliances approved.
Example: Generic anti-collision light not certified in A320 or 737 type but this anti-collision light is used for both so certified under ETSO
A company with a 21J Design Organisation Approval has to issue instructions for ____________
A company with a 21J Design Organisation Approval has to issue instructions for Continued Airworthiness
Who issues the TCH? Also what does TCDS stand for
EASA issues Type Certificate (TCH is Type Cert Holder)
TCDS = Type Cert Data Sheet
What is issued first the CofA or the ARC?
The CofA is issued before the ARC
With regards to minor or major modifications, when do you need to get EASA approval?
Minor changes from an approved part 21 J Org. dont need to go to EASA. The change is notified as a CB (Change Bulletin)
Major changes from an approved part 21 J Org. do need to be approved by EASA. The change can either be an STC or New TC (A320 neo, A320 ceo, A320 100, 200 etc)
Major modifications are classified in what two ways and who approves them?
Minor modifications are classified as and who approves them?
Major modifications - 1. TC or 2. STC (DOA can issue this) and are approved by EASA
Minor modifications - CB (Change Bulletin) - Part 21 DOA can approve this (don’t need EASA approval)
Who approves an ETSO and what is it used for?
A European Technical Standing Order is approved by EASA, where a component is fitted to several aircraft e.g Altimeter
The Altimeter gets it’s own individual approval in the form of an ETSO, CS-ETSO.
Note: This is a means of approval but not the only way, altimeter could be on one aircraft and approved under the type approval
What 7 certificates are required for an aircraft?
- CofR - Certificate of Registration
- CofA - Certificate of Airworthiness
- ARC - Airworthiness Review Certificate
- RL - Radio License
- NC - Noise Certificate
- AOC - Air Operator Certificate
- Insurance Certificate
What does ICAO Annex 7 concern?
Annex 7 - Definitions, location, measurement of nationality and registration marks
