what is the sociocultural approach
it is the approach which focuses on how enviroment and culture affect behaviour
social contex
the immediate physical and social settings of an individual, group or event
culture
norms and values which define a specific group
reciprocal determinism
releationship between individual and group is bidirectional, individual can affect group but group can also affect individual
social comparison
this determines a lot of our behaviour.
we look to others to determine how to behave

not sure of the rules/expectations so look to others, understand what tey are doing and act the same way
