Q

Crystallisation Method

A
  1. Heat solution until reduced by half or saturated (test with glass rod - dip into solution and if crystals form quickly)
  2. Remove heat and allow crystals to form
  3. Remove crystals through filtration

Q

Paper Chromatography Method

A
  1. Draw a pencil line from the bottom of the chromatography paper
  2. Put samples of dye on pencil line
  3. Put into beaker containing solvent and the solvent shouldn’t touch the pencil line (so that samples don’t dissolve)
  4. Put lid on top to stop evaporation of solvent from paper.
  5. Mark solvent front when solvent reaches 1cm from the top
