dense irregular connective tissue, much thinner than in the testis
Cortex of ovary
Outside of medulla except for horses. Contains follicles and corpora lutea, atretica, and albicans. Has interstitial glands that secrete estrogen, and a specialized connective tissue with fibroblasts called a stroma.
