Define Anatomy
= The study of the relationship between body parts and their structure

define physiology
= the science of how those parts came together to function and keep the body alive
PHYSIOLOGY WHAT THE BODY DOES
homeostasis
= the body’s ability to maintain stable internal conditions despite changes to the external environment .
sagittal or median plane plane
= cuts vertically and divides into left/right parts
coronal/ frontal plane
= cuts vertically and divides front/back
Transverse/ horizontal plan
= divides body top to bottom
Lateral
= structures further away from the midline
Medial
= structure toward the midline
Axial
= refers to all body parts in line with the centre of the body
- head
- neck
- trunk
Appendicular
= refers to those parts attached to the axis, the ‘appendange’
- arms and legs
Anterior or ventral
= means front of body,
posterior or dorsal
= refers to the back of the body
superior or cranial
= features are towards the top
inferior or caudal
= are towards the bottom
Proximal
= Features are those closer to the trunk
