A

Germany to accept full responsibility for WW1- war guilt clause article 231
Germany had to pay £6.6 billion to the allies
Germany had to give 70,000km2 to the allies e.g aslance-corraine was returned to france. Aim to make Germany weaker
Germany has to hand over it’s colonies
Only allowed 15,000 men and 6 battleships in navy
Rhineland to be occupied by allied troops
No union between austria and Germany
Conscription banned
Not allowed submarines armoured vehicles or air crafts
Army reduced to 100,000 men

Propaganda 9

A

Joseph gobells
Press - only nazi newspapers allowed and content was controlled
Radio - radio were in lots of public places and Hitlers speeches were broadcasted
Films - all films gave pro nazi stance and were often demonstrated their views e.g comparing jews to rats
Rallies - there were annual rallies that took place and strengthened the identity with regime
Books and art - modern art was banned only classical art and art hade to be made in praise of hitler
Music - Jazz was banned due to black origins, propaganda songs made for youths
Posters - depicted Jews as enemies and German youths as heros
Sports - berlin olympics used to demonstrate German efficiency and aryan race man carried the olympic torch
Architecture - Hitler preffered classical and rural architecture

A

Encouraged to have lots of children( motherhood cross )
Not allowed to wear high heels ,makeup or trousers
Lebenesborn programme - where single women could be made pregnant with a racially pure member of the SS

7 aims of nazi education- anti-intellectualism,anti-semitism,indifference to the weak,nationalism,militarism,obedience and discipline,Hitler worship
Hitler youth attendance compulsory - taught them about military fitness,discipline and motherhood for girls

Workers

A

There was a lot of unemployment in Germany but Hitler changed it by :
Taking jobs from women and jews (women expected to have kids)
Improving working conditions
Introducing conscription in the German army so if you didn’t or couldn’t work you went to the army

Terror

A

The ss - (schutz staffel) similiar to the police but without the legal boundaries - they were aryan and loyal to Hitler , they were his bodyguards
The Gestapo - secret state police - they monitored anyone suspected of being anti nazi had no legal boundaries people were captured and sent to concentration camps without trial
Police and Judges - their bosses were nazis, took an oath to beloyal to the nazi party
Crimes with the death penalty were :
Sexual relations with Jews, listening to anti nazi radio and habitual criminality( consistent offences)

The White rose movement - leaders Hans and sophie scholl - they sent out anti nazi leaflets when caught charged with treason
