- tonifies the KD and fortifies the yang - Kd Yang xu patterns
- warms the yang, regulates chong and ren channels, stabilizes Dai - cold xu patterns, cold womb, infertility. can be used alone for this purpose
- tonifies du mai, augments jing and blood, strengthens sinews/bones - esp for xu jing and blood in children prohibiting normal growth and development, non-healing bone breaks and traumas due to xu. Can be used alone for this purpose
- tonifies and nourishes qi and blood - esp for chronic non healing sores/boils from xue/jing depletion
