Y8 Phys T2-Mechanies Flashcards
What are the 3 states of matter
Solid gas liquid
What happens in solids?
The particles have little energy and the forces of attraction between them are
What happens in liquids?
The particles have more energy than in solids and the forces of attraction between the particles are weaker
What happens in gases?
In gases, the particles have high energy and the forces of attraction between the particles are weak
What is static electricity?
The buildup of charge
Fraction between two materials can cause….
Electrons to jump from one material to another the material that gains electrons becomes negatively charged and the materials that has lost electrons becomes positively charged
Gain electrons equals
Negative charge
Lose electrons equals
Positive charge
What happens when a force is applied to an object?
When a force is applied to an object and a turning effect as produced, we name this moment
What is the equation for moment?
Force(N) x distance from pivot (m)
What happens when moments are generated?
A force is exerted at a given distance from a pivot. A moment is therefore greater if the force supplied to system is greater and the distance from the pivot is greater
What does the principle of moment states?
That the clockwise sum must equal the anticlockwise sum for it to be balanced
What is hooks law?
Force equals spring constant times extension
The highest spring constant…..
The stiff of the spring as it takes more force to move
Pressure is calculated as….
Pressure equals force over area
