Y:113 Flashcards
What is the clean configuration stall speed, Vs1, of the Cessna 172?
44 knots
What is the landing configuration stall speed, Vs0, in the Cessna 172?
33 knots
Which factors affect the stall speed of an aircraft?
For example: Contamination, weight, load factor, turbulence, abrupt maneuvers, C.G. position and the use of flaps
Why does a stall occur?
Too high angle of attack.
Remember: The stall has nothing to do with speed, an aircraft can stall in any speed and in any flight condition. It is only dependant on angle of attack!
What´s the correct actions in case of an incipient stall with full flaps?
- Ptich down to break the stall and give full power - callout “STALL”
- Flaps 20
- Check speed increasing (above 60 knots)
- Flaps 10
- Positive rate of climb / No sink
- Flaps UP
What is the maximum bank angle during slow flight?
Bank angle during slow flight is limited to maximum 20 degrees. Recommended bank angle for normal turns is 10 - 15 degrees.
How do we recover from slow flight?
To recover from slow flight, stall recovery procedure is recommended.
What will happen to the position of the nose relative to the horizon when in slow flight with full flaps compared to a clean configuration?
The position of the nose relative to the horizon will be lower when the flaps are lowered.
Why do you need to apply more throttle when lowering the flaps during entry to slow flight?
The drag increases.
What is the first action when recovering from an incipient stall
Nose down to decrease the angle of attack!
