Y:105 Flashcards
Level Flight
If you have to actively hold the yoke back during a climb to maintain your nose attitude in what way should you move the trim wheel?
To trim for a higher nose attitude you move the trim wheel downwards.
How do we keep constant altitude in level flight?
We keep constant altitude by having constant power setting and nose attiude. Look outside, infront of the aircraft and find a reference to the horizon that you can use with 65% power to maintain your altitude. (For most people one fist between the dashboard and the horizon does the trick)
What is the definition of “straight and level flight”?
What is the definition of “straight and level flight” is flying with constant altitude, heading and wings level.
How do we keep constant heading and wings level?
To maintain wings level and your heading, look outside and make sure that the dashboard is parallell to the horizon and look out both the side windows to see that both wing tips have the same distance to the horizon.
When you move the trim wheel upwards the trim tab moves ___, elevator moves ___ and the nose goes ___.
When you move the trim wheel upwards the trim tab moves up, elevator moves down and the nose goes down.
In straight and level flight lift is ____ to weight and thrust is ____ to drag.
In straight and level flight lift is equal to weight and thrust is equal to drag.
What is the proper procedure to use the trim?
Set your desired nose attitude with the elevator and then use the trim to remove the stick forces. Don´t fly with the trim wheel!
Constant Attitude + Constant Power Setting=___________________
Constant Attitude + Constant Power Setting = Constant Airspeed and Altitude
What is our normal airspeed during cruise in our Cessna 172?
Our normal airspeed during cruise in our Cessna 172 is 105kt
What power setting is used in cruise on our Cessna 172?
The normal cruise setting for our Cessna 172 is 65%.
