The Following Equipment is powered by 24v AC power
- Headlights (hi-Beam)
- CCTV cameras in passenger saloon
Prepared Low Voltage and Cab Operative
Once Master Controller key is inserted and ON (active) the pantos raise. Local switches in each car energise the Prepared Low Voltage and Cab Operative. Once energised, the following 110vDC equipment is operational:
- Pantograph operational
- Status and Fault indicatons
- Traction Control
- Braking Control

- The Monitoring Pressure Switch in the Brake Pipe located on the trailer
Permanent Low Voltage line
PLV is permanently connected to the batteries and supplys an electrical connection to the following:
- Pantograph Electrical Motor
- Step Lights
- Fluorecent Cab Light
Prepared Low Voltage line
WHen thenMaster Controller key is removed, local switches in each car energises the Prepared Low Voltage line. The train enters a service retention mode where the following will occur:
- Train remains prepared
- Pantograph remain raised
- Settings of the last cab in service are memorised
- Marker Lights, Door Lights and saloon Lights will retain whatever settings they had prior to the remval of the Master Controller Key
The Safety Loop circuit is protected by?
Safety Loop Positive (23Q1) and
Safety Loop Negative (23Q2) circuit breaker
22Q6 Multi-Unit Relay
The Safety Loop Test, tests for what?
Testing the Safety Loop for a short circuit
Emergency Brake application will occur when:
- MR pressure falls below 580Kpa
- BP pressure falls below 300Kpa
- When Trip devise is activated or raised
- Hand or Foot Vigilance devices are not set
- Emergency Vigilance button not pressed withing 40 secs
- Loss of 110vDC
- Master Controller pllaced into Emergency
- Emergency Stop Button pressed in any cab’
- Two or more controller keys at the same time
- 23Q1 or 23Q2 Circuit breaker trip in the leading cab
