Why is the roster book an essential tool?
Allows the driver to be at work on time and be aware of allocated work throughout the day.
What are Duty Managers responsible for?
- Co-ordinating injury management
- Managing drivers after traumatic events and incidents
- Management presence out of hours
- Portable Radio defects or lost/stolen
What is a DAO responsible for?
- Allocating drivers to trains
- Reallocate drivers when there are disruptions on the network
- Inform drivers of altered runs or platform changes
- Implement roster and shift changes at short notice
If your relief driver isn’t in place when you arrive, who do you contact?

As a relieving driver, what is important for you to do when taking over a train?
- Handover with driver (if changing at same end)
- Be in position at the correct time/location
- Inspect TMM and Cab Notices
When visibility is poor, how must drivers approach fixed signals?

When station staff are clearing the train of passengers, how will they signal the train is clear?
All right hand signal
When does the driver clear the train?
- Changing ends and shunting in opposite directions
- Stabling at a platform (unattended)
- Train related fault (eg. Critical fault and no station staff available)
When do station staff clear the trains?
- At FSS
- Locations where train will be departing in same direction
- Or the driver of the arriving train is relieved at the opposite end
