if you have another can active light

A

the safety loop cannot close
make a cab to cab call
inspect each can for a cleaners key and activate the cab and see if the light extinguishes
once you find the defective can deactivate it it, this should help if not perform a train stable
if this doesn’t work the train can only be driven from the active cab you will need a competent employee

emergency stop button
hand foot pilot bypass
trip
BP and MR pressure switch

30
Q

Auto Vigilance Bypass Switch

A

does not need to be held
is protected by a copper seal
auto vigilance bypass button will flash every 30 seconds for 10 seconds
(hand foot trip)

31
Q

to isolate VICERS

A

use the key switch when:
fault light remains illuminated
safety loop is bypassed
auto vigilance is bypassed
abnormal operation of VICERS

32
Q

i will VICERS operate on battery power if loss of overhead

A

yes

33
Q

battery charger fault

A

is seen by fault light, perform train stable and book if rectified
train out of service if not rectified

34
Q

if the battery charger fails

A

only emergency light available

35
Q

if you lose one SIV

A

lose 1 HVAC per car
lose 1 air compressor
check circuit breakers left hand side of door 2 in trailer car
perform a train stable

36
Q

if you lose 2 SIVS

A

BATH
battery charger ( emergency lights)
air compressors both
traction cooling fans both- (and traction)
HVACs all

37
Q

position of the door isolation motor switches

A

1 motor release
2 motor isolate
3 normal
4 motor lock and close

38
Q

to isolate a door with the mechanical switch

A

from position 3 normal to position 1 motor release, manually close doors then position 4 motor lock close
FWN both ends
1 door per car per side

39
Q

where is the door loop bypass switch

A

A side cabinet

40
Q

how do you know if you got a DER

A

flashing blue close light
door emergency handle activated fault light
flashing red ANSW button
DDU beeps

41
Q

how do you reset a DER

A

tri key

42
Q

where is the door motor isolation switch

A

left hand side above each door

43
Q

traction faults

A

TCU will try to fix you will get 1 or more traction equip fault light (train lined)
traction fault light (this car light)
if time permits perform train stable
if this fails use the traction isolate switch in the affected car (may have to go for a walk to find the traction failt light)

44
Q

if you have isolated the traction switch what lights will you see

A

the traction fault light will remain illuminated in the affected car
1 or more traction equipment should extinguish

45
Q

Tacho speed input fault

A

DUSTvs
door button won’t work saloon doors can’t release
uncouple button won’t work
trip can’t reset
speedo won’t work
VICERS won’t reset
safety loop won’t close if BP can’t charge in train rescue

if time permits perform train stable

46
Q

24v convert fault light

A

you only need one set for the train to run
check your seat to check you have at least one set
headlights and marker lights are also on this system

47
Q

DTRS faults

A

press x button if that won’t work
stable and trip and reset the circuit breaker
activate cab
check TDN enters do radio test
if it doesn’t work deactivate the cab trip the CB and and reactivate, use the hand held in the cradle

48
Q

PA faults

A

when you stable to recite you need to wait an extra 4 minutes, so 6 minutes stable

49
Q

can you use the safety loop bypass if safety loop won’t close because of low main res?

A

no

50
Q

can you isolate the safety loop if the it won’t close because of low BP

A

yes

51
Q

if you have a bunch of fault lights check your one or more panto lowered fault light

A

it’s below your high voltage presence light

52
Q

if someone tries to activate another can while your is activated what lights will you see?

A

circuit breaker lights major major 2nd and minor

53
Q

VIGILANCE fault light

A

speed 0kmh
master controller coast
press button
if won’t reset then bypass key switch

54
Q

if 2 HAVCs fault lights illuminate

A

2 SIVs out

55
Q

battery charger fault light

A

other indications may be voltmeter not showing charge
emergency lights only

56
Q

service brake fault light (during prep)

A

place master controller into full service
EMS switch to 1
release brake then immediately reapply

57
Q

if service brake fault light and 1 or more brake equipment failt light don’t extinguish after full service application and release in EMS1

A

(during a prep)
turn safety loop bypass to test for 10 seconds
perform a stable
book

58
Q

one or more brake applied/ wheel slide

A

sticking brakes
can only be fixed by isolating the bogie
drain the valve first

59
Q

service brake fault light plus wheels slide light means it’s in

A

a trailing car 2/5

60
Q

park brake applied light

A

never wanna see this we can’t switch them on or off
check isloating cocks and air leaks
if in service and train moves normally just book
if it’s sticking park brakes, manually release (aux res must be drained)
FWN

61
Q

what happens if the compressor governor isolating cock is turned to isolate

A

it will leave the compressors in the state they were in

62
Q

compressors not running?

A

stable
if MR between 580 and 750 drive normally and monitor

63
Q

trip fails to lower

A

TEC RTA
check trip cock active
open if closed
if still won’t lower keep it raiser and drive on the secondary

64
Q

trip fails to raise (trailing)

A

RTA
isolate trip cock active in aux panel
keep it raised by any means necessary

65
Q

trip fails to reset

A

check other fault lights
manually reset the trip with the spring button
check the cock on the panel if it won’t lower and set drive on the secondary

66
Q

whistle not sounding

A

hit the lever
check the cocks in a side equipment cabinet and aux panel

67
Q

if whistle sounds continuously

A

depending on high/low tone isolate the high/low VICERS isolating cocks
if this doesn’t work use the cock in the six panel

68
Q

electrical rescue max combined units is 3- cars 9

A

normal speed
position 2 both trains
safety loop supply switch in all motor cabs of the disabled if flat batteries or no charge

69
Q

xtra pushing xtra non electrical

A

40km
assisting 4, disabled 1
observe low BP pressure fault light
then charge the brake pipe in full service with pilot set, coast
continuity
full emergency on whole unit
service on disabled/lead unit only
disabled/lead has no holding brake beware of rolling
assisting has reverser in forward pilot set provide power as required and vigilance

70
Q

xtrap pulling xtrap non electrical

A

reduced speed
ems 3 disabled
ems 4 assisting
observe low BP pressure fault light
charge brake pipe
continuity
emergency on full unit, service assisting/lead only
disabled is in forward hand set and vigilance

71
Q

xtrap pulling xtrap LOW BATTERY coupled electrically

A

low key like if one unit had lost 2 sivs on a 6 car
speed 15
ems 2 both units
continuity- assisting should trip 23q1 23q2 and reset when other consist hits ESB
both drivers have emergency, assisting has service brake only
one key/cab active
