Xray Flashcards
What are the radiation hazard areas when utilizing Golden X-ray systems?
20 feet to the rear, 20 feet to the side, 100 feet to the front
What is the maximum radiation exposure aim for X-ray operations?
2 mr or less
In most cases what is a good rule of thumb for X-ray stand-off?
Observing good blast and frag stand-offs will provide good X-ray stand-offs
What types of X-ray units are there?
Continuous wave or pulse
What does KV or KVP mean?
Kilovolt or Kilovolt Peak is the ability of the X-ray machine to penetrate material
What is the primary use for the X-ray machine?
To look inside the container and determine bomb components
What type of X-ray machine is the Golden X-RAY-200?
Pulse
What is the lifecycle of an X-ray tube?
100,000 pulses
What is the tube cool down time (in training)?
50 pulses and below 10 sec wait time, 51-99 pulses 5 min wait time
What is the optimal distance to place an X-ray panel behind a target?
1/4-1/2 inch
What is the inverse square law?
2x the distance 4x the exposure, the 2x4 rule
How does the X-ray panel work?
When exposed to the X-rays, the phosphor screen captures the energy of the X-rays and stores the pattern as a latent image
What radioactive isotope is inside the Golden XR-200 X-ray machine?
It does not contain a radioactive isotope
What is the beam angle of the XR-200 X-ray machine?
40 degrees
What is the effect when the phosphorus screen is placed 1 foot behind the package?
Items appear larger
