Rigging Flashcards
Rigging is not a viable option if?
The situation is life-threatening or the area cannot withstand a High Order Detonation
How do you determine the ratio of a mechanical advantage system?
Count the pulleys
What must you be aware of at all times when rigging?
The line
What must you do before correcting any line problems?
Disconnect from the device
What are the benefits of a one line system?
Quickest and easiest to set up and operate
What are some problems with one line systems?
Involves dragging the device and malfunctions usually require hands on corrective actions
Rigging is what type of technique?
Semi-Remote
What are the problems with a two line system?
Primarily a dragging operation
What are the benefits of a two line system?
Allows the reversal of device direction to correct malfunction and ability to suspend over obstacles
In a multiple line system what are the three types of lines?
Base line (pathway), Working line (lifts and moves), Auxiliary line (supplemental tasks)
When do you attach to the suspect device?
Always last just before returning the safe area
What is the greatest advantage of a two line system?
It allows reversal of direction for the device, allowing for corrective action from a safe area
What is the greatest disadvantage of one and two line systems?
Both systems involve a great deal of stress on the suspect package.
What is the advantage of using a drag assembly in a multiple line system?
It allows the package to be suspended in transit
Rigging is what type of procedure
A semi-remote procedure
