Short term effects (24-36 hours)

Long term effects (Months and years after exercise)
Body shape may change, lower resting heart rate, increased size of heart (hypertrophy), improve speed, improve stamina, improvement in specific components of fitness.
Aerobic equation
Glucose + oxygen = energy + carbon dioxide + water.
Anaerobic equation
Glucose = energy + lactic acid.
Oxygen Debt
Temporary oxygen shortage in the body due to strenuous exercise.
Lactic acid
Waste product from anaerobic exercise .
Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness (DOMS)
The pain felt in the muscles the day after exercise, caused by lactic acid from strenuous exercise (anaerobic exercise).
Recovery Process
Cool down,
manipulation of diet,
ice baths,
massage.
Ligament
Attaches bone to bone.
Tendon
Attaches muscle to bone.
