-APPROPRIATE TONE for a BROADSHEET NEWSPAPER - no rhetorical questions, !/?s, exclamations (astonishing, massive), soapboxing (more effort is needed) - state facts but don’t propose solutions, don’t exceed word limit (400 words = approx. under 1 page)
Your readership
-intelligent, well-rounded general interests, empathetic, interested in reliability (STATE SOURCE BUT NOT DETAILS OF RESEARCH), want statements backed by evidence (not too much), can form own opinions, read quickly (BE INTERESTING!)

Topics to address
What are the newsworthy topics addressed in article, how will you use them to organise article?
What do you want to emphasise/deemphasise for the sake of readership?
How will you ‘frame’ topics to be interesting and ‘relevant’ to readership?
