One of the most complex joints of the body.
Wrist
Two joints that make up the wrist?
Radiocarpal joint and mid carpal joint.
Distal end of radius and radioulnar disk proximally and the scaphoid, lunate, and triquetrum distally. Articular disk acts as shock absorber.
Radiocarpal Joint
___ is a biaxial joint. Flex., Ext., Radial Dev., Ulnar Dev.
Radiocarpal Joint
Radial side of wrist
Radial collateral ligament
Ulnar side of wrist
Ulnar collateral ligament
Limits wrist extension
Palmar radiocarpal ligament
Limits wrist flexion
Dorsal radiocarpal ligament
Relatively thick, triangular-shaped fascia located superficially in the palm of the hand.
Palmar Fascia
Main function is to cover and protect tendons of the hand.
Palmar Fascia
Palmar Aponeurosis
Palmar Fascia
Occurs between the two rows of carpal bones. Allow gliding motions.

Anterior Wrist Muscles
Extensor carpi radialis longus, extensor carpi radialis brevis, extensor carpi ulnaris
Posterior Wrist Muscles
Prime movers wrist flexion
Flexor carpi radialis, flexor carpi ulnaris
