Wound Healing & Cells Flashcards
What is the job of neutrophils
they cleanse the wound of foreign bodies.
what is the job of Basophils & Mast cells?
to release histamine
what is the job of eosinophils?
modulates the allergic response release
what is the role of macrophages?
to attract other cells, secrete growth factors, reestablish blood supply & transcend all phases of wound healing
what is the role of lymphocytes?
responsible for immune response
what is an example of primary intention wound healing?
superficial chemical peel, sheering, 1st degree burn
what is an example of primary intention wound healing?
sutures after surgery, a neat wound healing margin brought together.
what is an example of delayed primary intention wound healing?
delayed closure due to infection or foreign bodies.
what is an example of partial thickness wound healing?
2nd degree burn, abrasions, ulcers
what is an example of secondary intention wound healing?
full thickness burn. non viable wound margins, ulcer…
explain what happens when an area is exposed to LLLT for wound healing (cellular level)
Cells in the wound respond to the ROS induced by the LLLT, which leads to GF expression TGF & PDGF, they further encourage formation of blood vessels, wound healing, collagen synthesis, less inflammation… etc
