World Transmission Operation Flashcards
World Transmission Operation
1995, 1996, 2006, 2009
The T-Handle shift selector has R, N, D, 4, 3, 2, 1 a MODE button and a digital display.

World Transmission Operation
When a range selection is made the digital display shows the chosen operation (if the ECU determines the shift is acceptable) and the transmission will shift to the initial range as indicated on the display. While in the D (Drive) mode it is not necessary to select the right moment to upshift or downshift during changing road and traffic conditions, the transmission will do it all for you.

World Transmission Operation
Unless road conditions dictate using a specific gear, the full automatic position will provide sufficient vehicle performance. Under full acceleration (100% pedal travel) the transmission shift points occur at approximately _____ rpm.
2100
World Transmission Operation
When all segments of the digital display are illuminated for more than ___ seconds, the ECU did not complete initialization.
When display is blank, there is no power to the selector.
When display shows a “cat eye” symbol, a selector-related fault code has been logged.

Hold Over Button - 2006 - 2009
Shift selector has 3 locked positions to prevent accidentally selecting Reverse, Neutral or Drive.
Select R, N, D by holding override button and move lever.
Once D is selected, lower forward range positions may be selected without pressing the hold override.

World Transmission Operation
Mode button - TO access 5th gear, allows shifting from 4th to 5th. Also diagnostic code information

World Transmission Operation
Conditions which illuminate the CHECK TRANS light will disable the shift selector and the digital display will show the range actually attained. The transmission will not shift into range if a CHECK TRANS code is active. When the display shows either R or D has been requested and the display is flashing, the requested range has not been achieved due to an inhibit function. Some inhibit functions are vehicle-related and will not result in diagnostic codes.

World Transmission Operation
If the apparatus has a T handle Range selector the vehicle will not start unless _____ has been selected.
Neutral
World Transmission Operation
Unless road conditions dictate using a specific gear, the full automatic position will provide sufficient performance.

World Transmission Operation
First gear range - used for pulling through mud, when max traction is desired, maneuvering in tight spaces, driving up or down steep grades
reference
World Transmission Operation
R (Reverse)
Completely stop the vehicle and let the engine return to idle before shifting from a
forward range to Reverse or from Reverse to a forward range.
reference
World Transmission Operation
Do not idle in R (Reverse) for more than ___ minutes. Extended idling in R (Reverse) may cause transmission damage. Always select N (Neutral) whenever time at idle exceeds five minutes.

World Transmission Operation
When ,taking a shift be sure to always plan in Neutral when transitioning from reverse to a forward range and visa versa

World Transmission Operation
Diagnostic codes are numerical indications relating to a malfunction in transmission
operation. Each code consists of a ___ digit main code and a two-digit subcode. These
codes are logged in a list in the World Transmission ECU memory with the most severe or otherwise most recent code listed first. A maximum of ___ codes (numbered d1
through d5) may be listed in memory at one time.
