Air-Kwik System 2006 La France Flashcards
Air-Kwik
The system has a capacity of ___ gallons of water.
80
Air-Kwik
Hose Tray
Holds ____’ of 1” hose (There is a tray located on both sides of the apparatus).
100
Low Water Indicator Light - Air Kwik
Red light turns on when the tank has approximately ___ gallons of water remaining.
25
Air-Kwik
Tank Pressure Gauge
Shows the discharge pressure when flowing water and static pressure when the discharge valve is closed (0-___ psi).
300
Air-Kwik
Air Cylinder Pressure Gauge
Shows the pressure in the air cylinder, only when the cylinder is turned on (0-_____ psi).
5,000
Air-Kwik
Regulator Control Knob
Typically set for _____ psi (___ psi max).
150-175

Alarm Shutoff Switch
Switch is ON when the bottom portion of the switch (white dot) is depressed. Switch should always be kept in the ON position, except to silence horn when refilling, or when vehicle is being driven with tank partially full (sloshing water will activate the low water warning horn). Switch must be in ON position for the FULL light, LOW light, and LOW WATER warning horn to operate.

Fill Cap
1-1/2” Opening for adding water concentrate. Keep hand tight.

Air Bleed Valve
Shown in closed position. To open, lift locking collar and turn handle. Always bleed all residual air pressure from tank before attempting to fill or remove fill cap.

Water/Foam Solution Tank: Air-Kwik® has an ASME Certified water pressure tank rated at ___ psi working pressure with a capacity of 80 gallons. The tank is constructed with #304 stainless steel for maximum corrosion resistance. The exterior is powder coated to give a durable gloss red finish.

Air-Kwik
High Pressure Air Cylinders: Air-Kwik® is powered by a high pressure (2216- 4500 psi) air cylinder to provide the water tank with the necessary pressure to discharge the solution. When the cylinder valve is opened, air pressure will be immediately supplied to the water tank. The compressed air (2216-4500 psi) is reduced by an adjustable pressure regulator to provide proper discharge pressure for the water tank operating pressure.

The cylinders are connected to the air delivery system by a Teflon lined double braided stainless steel hose and connector that directs pressure to the gauges, regulator and water tank. Only one cylinder needs to be opened for normal operation. For maximum pressure for the entire 80 gallons both air cylinders should be turned on.

Automatic Tank Pressure Relief Valve:
There are two safety relief valves. One is on the air pressure regulator and one is on the tank These automatic pop-up valves relieve tank pressures greater than ____ psi in the event of a regulator malfunction or water/foam tank overpressure situation.

The low water tank warning horn will also sound, but only for the first ___ to ___ seconds. The red warning light will continue to stay on until the tank is refilled or the gauge shutoff switch is turned off. The Alarm Shutoff switch must be on to power the full and low water indicator lights and warning horn. This switch should only be turned off to prevent the horn from continuously activating while the unit is being moved with the tank only partially full, such as when the unit is going to be moved for refilling.

Air-Kwik System – Daily Check
- WATER TANK FULL - Depress full light indicator switch, or manually inspect by removing fill cap to ensure that tank is full.
- FILL CAP - Keep hand tight.
- BLEED AIR VALVE - (Keep CLOSED). The air bleed valve must be closed for the system to operate. Verify air bleed valve is fully closed with handle in locked position over the fill cap. The handle over the fill cap when in the closed position is to prevent the removal of the Fill Cap before releasing the pressure. Always lift locking collar located at base of handle before attempting to open or close valve
- AIR CYLINDERS - Verify air supply cylinders are fully charged, connected to supply hose, and properly secured with strap. When changing air cylinders, always check for the “0” ring at the base of fill connector stem.
- REGULATOR - Confirm regulator is set to desired pressure by momentarily turning on air cylinder. Once it is determined that the regulator is properly set, turn off air
cylinder and bleed off air pressure (unless you intend on using system within a few hours). Verify all hose connections are tight and inspect hose for any signs of wear, damage, or deterioration. - FIRE HOSE & NOZZLE – Verify the hose is in good condition, properly stowed, and that the nozzle is in the “OFF” position.
- AIR TEST – Open each air cylinder one at a time for a few seconds and listen for any air leaks. Shut off air cylinder and bleed off air pressure.
