What is the definition of Working at Height?
Working at Height is defined as:
Working in any place, at, above or below ground level.
Obtaining access to or egress from such a place whilst at work, except by a staircase in a permanent workplace. – such as a fire escape on the outside of a building.
What is the definition of a “Competent Person”?
In the RAF, a “competent person” is classified as competent by virtue of their training and experience.
How can the Armed Forces apply for exemption from the Working at Height Regulations?
In writing, from the Health and Safety Executive.
State three responsibilities an Employer has with regards to the Working at Height Regulations?
All Working at height is properly planned, appropriately supervised and carried out in a manner that is safe.
Prior to conducting any Working at Height, what “documentation” shall the Person in Charge generate?
- Method statement
- Risk assessments – including controlling the risks from fragile surfaces.
- Emergency and Rescue plan – this form is found within AP600.
- Access to a registered high place (RHP) controlled via the Authorised person for Working at Height.
