Work Flashcards
What is work done?
The energy transferred when a force is used to move an object a certain distance.
How do you calculate the work done?
Force (N) x Distance Moved (m)
When do you do work?
When you do something that goes against gravity like lifting a book.
What do simple machines do?
Make it easier to lift things.
What does a force multiplier do?
Uses a smaller import force to generate a larger output force.
What happens when you increase the distance from the pivot?
Less input force is needed to be used.
What is an example of a force multiplier?
A lever.
How much energy you need to increase the temperature depends on…….
The mass of the substance, what the substance is made of and how much you want to increase the temperature by.
